  • Manager Network Resources          [ Search Extended - April 2, 2007]

SCIENCE PARK HIGH SCHOOL:

Newark's  Science Park High School (SPHS) will open in fall 2006 both as a science magnet school for the Newark Public Schools (NPS), and as a member of the University Heights Science Park (UHSP) partnership.  SPHS will have an advanced instructional technology infrastructure to support both a comprehensive educational environment and a unique, technology-enhanced, project-based curriculum for a magnet school.  The programs and learning opportunities available to SPHS students will be integrated with and consistent to those provided to students at the higher education partner institutions of CHEN - the Council for Higher Education in Newark (Essex Count College, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey – Newark Campus, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey).

The educational technology standards and support infrastructure for SPHS will differ significantly from the technology standards provided at other district schools.  To address these needs, NJIT is providing two professional staff positions to manage the SPHS instructional technology network and provide instructional and technical support for educational software applications.  Access to advanced networking applications through the K20 initiatives of Internet2 will enhance the teaching and learning environment.  Although employed by NJIT, the positions will be physically located at SPHS, report to the SPHS principal on a day-to-day basis, and be culturally part of the SPHS community.  Both positions will serve as leaders in promoting and supporting the innovative and effective application of technology across the SPHS curriculum.   The positions will collaborate with the School Leadership Council, teachers and staff, the NPS district office, and partners from both CHEN and UHSP to create a unique K-20 partnership in teaching the sciences and technology in an urban environment.

POSITION SUMMARIES:

Manager Instructional Technology

Reporting to the Principal of SPHS on a day-to-day basis, and working closely with the NPS Office of Instructional Technology, the position is principally responsible for the development, implementation, and management of resources, services, and projects that deliver an effective instructional technology support program for SPHS teachers, students, and staff.  The program leverages collaborations with the NPS Office of Instructional Technology, UHSP and the four higher education partner institutions of CHEN.
